Utah Liquor Laws
Getting a beer at a bar or restaurant
Draft beer is required to be 5% ABV or below at all bars and restaurants. Beers over 5% ABV are sold in cans or bottles.
Buying beers to take home
If it's 5% ABV or below, it can be sold in Utah grocery or convenience stores. Everything over 5% ABV goes to the DABS liquor store.
Spirits & Wine
Mixed drinks are limited to one unit at a time: a 1.5 oz shot of 40% liquor or 6 oz of wine. Despite the limits, most bars are skilled at working within them.
